I Was In My Final Year Of High School
When I first heard someone talk seriously about health. Diet. Moreso.
Not from a doctor. Or my biology teacher. Just a bro.
We’d just walked out of a practical exam, chemistry, or whatever had us sweating, and out of nowhere, he goes,
“Once I’m done with high school, I’m going to start eating right.”
I blinked at him like bro. It’s not like he was living off burgers, fries, and ice cream every day. Honestly, I was irritated. No. Pissed.
While he was planning steamed veggies, I was dreaming of my post-exam reunion with all the junk food I couldn’t have in school.
But something about the way he said it stuck with me. There was fire in his eyes. Like this meant something deeper.
And by then, he’d already shown me a side of Jesus I’d never known before. Not just Lord of church days. But Lord of life. Of choices. Now of the plate even!
The idea that God cares about what we eat? That He designed our bodies and actually wanted to help us care for them? That felt wayyy too personal.

After High School
I joined a church that really nurtured me. I continued to know Jesus as my real Friend. And slowly, without pressure, that old conversation that I rolled my eyes at started making sense.
I realized this body isn’t just mine. It’s God’s. And if I’m serious about following Him, then how I live, move, eat, sleep, matters.
So I did what a lot of us do when health conviction hits. First, ditched all the “trashy” foods and swapped them for whole options.
Then later, forced myself into morning runs. Even when I felt like fainting. Drank more water (and lived in the washroom because of it). More sunshine, deep breathing, and even tried going to bed on time. Tried…
You know how it feels at first. I even came off social media! “Behold, the new healthy, holy version of me.”
But something was still off.
I was ticking all the boxes, but I couldn’t hold it together. Motivation came and went. My energy crushed at times. And the joy I expected? It never really stayed.
“Why is this so hard? Shouldn’t I feel better by now?”
And then it hit me. Maybe I was doing all the right things. But was I really, really connected to the Source?

What’s Missing From Most Health Plans
You see, most associate health with NEWSTAR—Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunshine, Temperance, Air, and Rest. Of course each one matters.
But it’s the “T” that turns NEWSTAR into a true NEWSTART.
And it’s often the one we forget.
Trust. Not in yourself. Not in a routine. But in God.
That sounds simple, right?
But how often are we discouraged from our health plans? The internal struggles…
And Through The Struggles Above
There’s that voice that creeps in. The one that says:
“You’re lazy…You have no discipline…You’re never going to change.”
Guilt starts talking. Shame starts growing. The fear of starting over keeps you stuck right there.
If that’s where you are, that is not what God intended for you to feel.
You were never meant to live stuck in defeat. He wants you on the other side of the curve.
Where the laws of health feel like blessings, not burdens. Where your body stops protesting and starts healing in alignment with how it was created to function.

You Matter To God More Than You Think
“For ye are not your own… for ye are bought with a price.”
He didn’t just create you. He redeemed you. From the ruins of sin.
He still calls your body His temple. Every heartbeat. Every breath. Every cell.
He wants you to invite Him into your healing.
Whether that’s recovery, restoration, or simply the desire to live longer and better.
And what does that cooperation look like?
It looks like trust. It looks like saying, “Lord, I want to do this with You—not just for You.”
The desire of God for every human being is expressed in the words, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” — My Life Today, 135
That Trust Doesn’t Mean You’ll Immediately Stop Craving Sugar
It doesn’t mean exercise will magically feel amazing, or you’ll get up early with David Goggins’ mindset.
Sometimes, it’ll feel like everything in your body is against your goals.
And honestly, that’s because we often place our trust in other things.
Trusting food for comfort. Trusting caffeine for energy. Trusting screens for escape.
Trusting our feelings over His promises.
God’s health laws aren’t restrictions. They’re invitations that say,
“Come live the way you were designed to. I’ll help you.”

So…What’s Holding You Back?
Maybe you’re tired. Maybe you’ve failed before. Maybe trusting God with your health feels awkward. Unnecessary.
But God is not keeping score. He’s just waiting to walk with you. Into wholeness.
And that includes victory over your past, your habits, and the lies you’ve believed.
The forgotten healing promise was never hidden. Just buried. Under distractions, quick fixes, and misinformation.
Now you have it. It’s yours. For life!
You can breathe fresh air and call it a gift. Walk and call it worship. Eat well and call it love. Rest, and know God delights in your renewal.
You don’t need a perfect plan. Just a willing heart.
