If I Were God, I’d Have Given Up A Long Time Ago
On me. My guy, on you too! On the whole human race! But what seems crazy is, He hasn’t. Not once.
We fall. Hard. Often. Our minds and hearts sometimes set up a temple for a spirit that looks nothing like our closest Friend.
And yet, He looks straight past our damaged trust. Past the fear and corruption. Right into those clumsy, half-formed attempts we make when we’re desperate to be rescued.
He keeps giving. Things we need and definitely don’t deserve. Needs we never even say out loud. Not to Him. Not to anyone.
Maybe what’s keeping us from slipping over the edge are the unseen prayers. The voices of people who love us, brave enough to stand in the gap.
We say blessed is the one who walks in righteousness, true, they will see the covering hand of God.
But, what about those who are still deep in their mess? Who keep God in the talking stage? Why does it look like He’s still holding on to them?
That’s mercy. The kind that doesn’t make sense.

We Make Poor Choices. Ignore His Voice
And yet, instead of crossing His arms and pulling away, He pulls up and hands us a new beginning in brokenness.
Instead of taking away the blessings we’ve trampled on, He pours out even more. Enough to overwhelm us until we can’t miss the love He’s writing into our days.
A father who doesn’t stop feeding his kids just because they ignored his advice. He hasn’t stopped opening doors, placing His children in spaces where His love can reach deeper.
If you’ve ever tasted His love, like really really tasted it, you know what I mean.
Once you’ve seen His sacrifice, His commitment, you realize He’s always been there. His love for you was set before you were even born. Even in your sin, His affection hasn’t shifted an inch.
Of course, the enemy loves to rewrite that truth. He’ll say God’s love is conditional. Gives to the obedient and punishes the sinners.
Truth is, He’s always been the giver of life and joy to all, not the bringer of death and suffering.
So when trouble knocks, it’s not because He’s failed you. It’s because He knows exactly what you need to walk with Him. So that you can work it out together.

He Has Never Been Slack With His Promises
He doesn’t make rash, emotion-driven decisions like we do. He doesn’t give or take away based on how your week’s been.
His mind is fixed on the unique map of your life. Seeing every possible turn, knowing which one is best. And, He actually invites you to test Him on this. The confidence He has!
“Come now, and let us reason together…”
Bring your doubts. Check if He’s been faithful to the principles He calls the blueprint of life. You’ll find He’s been for you all along.
He gifts safety. Health. A mind sharp enough to think. Restlessness that stirs when the heart refuses to settle for what’s below and reaches instead for what’s above.
Yet, perhaps the greatest gift for you is a fresh start.
Your yesterday might be stained with mistakes. Shame and guilt. Maybe your best years feel eaten away by locusts. Maybe you’ve told yourself it’s too late.
But He’s leaning in, smiling, and saying to you,

He Wants Just One Thing From You
A prayer. Right where you are. Privately. In bed. At work. In the middle of tears. Frustration. Avoidance. Alone in the dark.
He’s not demanding an hour. He’s asking to drop the weight you can’t name, the ache you can’t explain. The want you can’t comprehend.
Talk to Him as much as you want. That’s how it begins.
Whether eyes closed, standing, kneeling, or in prostration. Let your heart speak the longings, the wounds others have left, the scars you’ve carved yourself.
Those hands of yours, He wants to take them. Like a bro. A mom. Like a dad. A real friend.
Will you let Him? I’m letting Him hold mine now.
